May your “hearts be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery which is Christ.” {Colossians 2:2, ESV}

We prosper in our faith when we know God and believe. It’s a knowledge that runs deeper than just knowing of God but transpires when we make time to really know and understand His character, promises, and ways.  I think that is why this ministry of She Believes is so important to me.  The act of believing God through all life can be challenging, however, it does get easier the more grounded we become in the Word and knowledge of God. The world offers so much to confuse and trip us up that it really takes a vigilant practice of protecting the Truth we know and the daily encouragement in the faith to remain steadfast and believe God for our whole life.

When Paul writes that the hidden treasures in life are found in the wisdom and knowledge of God, he’s really imparting the true secret to living fully alive!  We grow stronger and more steadfast in our faith as we take the time to truly know God {Colossians 2:2-3}.

Knowing God helps us to believe God when our circumstances don’t look like we had hoped.

To help us grow in our knowledge of God, it’s important to remember and know deep down in our bones that we have been rooted, built up, and established in Christ.

“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” {Colossians 2:6-7, ESV}

However, there is a warning in our verses today.  “See to it that no one takes you captive…”{Colossians 2:8}.

Learning to walk in an unwavering believe is so vital to holding tight to the truth and avoiding those pesky opportunities to be persuaded or pulled away from the faith. But nestled in this warning is the beautiful truth that we don’t have to do this alone, the Lord packed in an insurance plan to our salvation. Himself!

We have the full assurance through the Word of God that we have been made alive in Christ and have within us everything we need. Everything. “All the fullness of the deity of God dwells in you.”

You have received a circumcision of the heart {Col. 2-11}. Your heart has been tagged and knit together in love through {and for} Christ. You have received a crucifixion of the flesh {Col. 2-13}.  You are no longer dead in your sins but alive in Christ, forgiven. And you have been raised to new life by the canceling of all trespasses and what I like to refer to as the cleaning out of any skeletons in the closet.  Your debt has been paid and your slate is clean. Shame doesn’t need to be an emotion you walk in any longer.  You are no longer bound to sin but free!

Often we get tripped up when we don’t believe our debt has been paid or a pesky sin creeps back into our lives and threatens to expose or ruin whatever we are doing. We fail to believe we are forgiven or we just can’t trust that God would really deem us worthy of the blessings He promises us in His Word.

But you are worthy, let me shout that to you through the magic of the internet this morning!  You are worthy, you have been bought and paid for, your debt has been canceled, and you are His! Believe it!  All the fullness of God dwells in all who believe!

Trusting in the fullness of God dwelling within us will be our help, enabling us to hold fast to the Truth and experience the beautiful treasure in living fully alive!
