READ: JOSHUA 22-24 // #TruthVignette

We are to the end of Joshua.  Is anyone else sad to be finishing this book?  I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, this book has helped me so much over the past few months of study. It’s been a very seasonable reminder to look at all God has done, and remember His faithfulness, during a time when I have been surrounded by so much uncertainty. Inspiring an act of recounting the faithfulness of God in my own life as I see His faithfulness played out in life of Joshua.

“Remember!”, so that in the midst of the uncertainty, one thing that is never uncertain is the faithfulness of God! – Amen!

Not only does Joshua encourage us to remember God’s faithfulness, but in his final “Swan Song” he has three more powerful reminders from this epic journey into their inheritance.

He encourages us to fight for God. He is fighting for you.  The Lord’s hand never left the Israelites as they ventured into and conquered the Promised Land. And the Lord never will stop fighting for those who believe! That means you! God is fighting on your behalf today!

“For the Lord has driven out before you great and strong nations.  And as for you, no man has been able to stand before you to this day.” {Joshua 23:9, ESV}

Not one thing the Lord had promised failed.  Everything was completed. That is huge! Do you know anyone who has that kind of record?  God keeps His promises, ever single one of them. He is the #1 promise keeper.

“And now I am about to go the way of all the earth, and you know in your hearts and souls, all of you, that not one word has failed of all the good things that the Lord your God promised concerning you.” {Joshua 23:14, ESV}

Now, choose who you will serve? The Israelites have been given the most tangible eye witness account of God’s sovereignty over their lives.  And Joshua wasn’t going to be around forever to help guide them. He is charging them to take a stand! Make a commitment each one for themselves.

“Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond he river and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.” {Joshua 24:14, ESV}

We all have these same choices everyday.  Each new day brings an opportunity to remember the Lord and His goodness. How He has fought for us and provided faithfully, so that we are able to walk in bold strength and courage through faith in our Heavenly Father for our real life life.

Friends, be strong and courageous! Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. He is fighting for you, now fight for Him.  He is the God who keeps all His promises without fail. And He will not fail you.  Trust this truth and walk boldly in complete faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, today!

Believe It! – God is faithful to do all He promises to do!

Trust It! – Not one promise failed {Joshua 23:14} Believe that God is that GOOD to you too!

Live It! – It can be really hard to surrender those things we hold so dear.  It’s the things we love most that we tend to hold tightly but God cares about the things we care about too.  Pick one thing that has been difficult to lay down and pray and seek the Lord for help to surrender it to Christ today.  I promise you, God will be so faithful to help you when you put your trust in Him…and get ready for Him to knock your socks off with His faithfulness!

believe it trust it live it

CHALLENGE: Joshua gives his “Swan Song”, his last words of encouragement and instruction before he dies. If you had to write a “Swan Song” right now; what would you say? What legacy is Christ writing in you so that you can encourage others?  The beauty in this exercise is that you are not at done —  God still has so much He wants to do in and through you!  Keep pressing into the Lord and allow your “Swan Song” today to be a written catalyst to more faith and belief in your Lord Jesus Christ!
