READ: JOSHUA 18 // #TruthVignette

“How long will you put off going in to take possession of the land, which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you?” {Joshua 18:3, ESV}

Seven tribes have yet to take possession of their inheritance.  What are they waiting for? The Lord had promised them the land, assured them that it was ready, available and theirs.   And yet, they have stalled in taking possession.

Fear could be the culprit? Laziness or complacency could have creeped into their now comfortable, happy place?  Or maybe even a lack of faith or trust was weighing on their hearts? – Is the land really theirs for the taking?

Whatever was holding them back it’s about to change.  In chapter 18, Joshua lets us know ‘right off the bat’ that the Lord was in the midst of them and they were worshipping.  The Tent of Meeting was at the center of their assemble, the place where God dwelt and they encounter Him.

Through Christ, we know and can trust without a doubt that God is always in our midst.  We know from Colossians that “For in him {Christ} the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him who is the head of all rule and authority.” {Colossians 2:9, ESV}

God is always in the midst of those who believe.

I can’t tell you how many times the Lord has promised something to me or guided me in a direction where I felt His faithful hand leading and I still had moments of fear or doubt creep in.   Fear that paralyzed me from going and doing what the Lord was leading.

It sounds completely nuts as I write about it, but it’s true and it has happened. I can relate to these seven tribes holding back.  They have witnessed incredible signs and wonders from the Lord. Me too! Heard about countless miracles preformed in the presence of their ancestors. Yup!

I wish I could say that I always stand firm in the Truth I know and every time the Lord leads I follow without fail. But I can’t.  The truth, I’m growing, learning, and getting stronger in my faith all the time. The fears and temptations are dimension but it’s a battle I will need to continue to guard against. As Paul says “Guard the deposit {Truth} that has been entrusted to you.” — Guard, aggressively protect, at all cost, why? So you don’t get overtaken by fear, start believing lies, or be paralyzed in moving forward in all the ways the Lord is guiding.

The tribes got before the Lord.  They heeded the instruction of their leader, trusted the strength and courage they had been given, and they got back to doing the work of the Lord.

Do you believe in God? If yes, then He is in your midst! Trust it.  Press into the Lord today for your whole life.  He is ready, available, and wanting to help you tackle whatever is on your schedule today!

Believe It! – God is always near to all who believe!

Trust It! – Press into the Lord today and know that He is pressing into you, supplying all you need today to do all He is asking.  Our daily bread has been provided we only need to trust and pick it up.

Live It! – Today, set a reminder on your phone or calendar at work alerting you to take a few minutes to remember the Lord, pray and press into all He has for you today.  I set a couple reminders on my phone through-out the day.  Just a little tool I’ve incorporated into my day to help me remember the Lord is near and I can call upon Him anytime for strength + encouragement!  Life can be hard.  Don’t go at it alone!
