Memorize With Us: {The Beatitudes} Matthew Five Four – Seven

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.

Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” { Matthew 5:3-12, ESV }

Every Sunday we post a new verse to memorize together for the week.  Currently, we are memorizing Jesus’ The Sermon on the Mount together.   I’ve highlighted a section in pink for us to work on this week. If you can do more, great! Go for it!  Let’s take some time this week to memorize one of Jesus’ greatest sermons- filled with encouragement and helpful instruction for our lives.

This past Saturday, I was blessed to be able to attend a conference with Beth Moore.  There were so many good nuggets of encouragement for me sprinkled throughout the conference but one thing that has been the resounding message for my heart is our need as believers to know God’s Word and the importance of memorizing it.

Friends, This world is getting tricky to navigate.  There are so many public debates on social media about politics, religion, faith, and morality that it can be confusing and super-duper hard to maneuver in our faith through it all.  The only hope we have of standing strong in what we believe is being so grounded in the Word through daily study and prayer that we can’t be moved or drift from our true north, who is Jesus Christ!

Let’s not just memorize His Word, let’s allow His Truth to seep down deep into our core and permeate our whole lives so that we are women who stand firm and guard the Truth that has been entrusted to us and live blessed because we believe!

Join us every Sunday when we post a new verse for the week!

I hope you’ll join us each week as we memorize God’s Word together.  Memorizing scripture is one of the purest ways we are able to carry God’s Word with us wherever we go!  It puts His truth on our tongue, in our hearts, and encourages our souls all day long as we follow Christ.

Let's commit to getting crazy creative at memorizing God's word each week! Click To Tweet
  • Create a drawing or painting to help you remember the scripture.
  • Set the scripture to a familiar tune or jingle as a super fun way to remember those longer passages.
  • Write the passage out several times (remember elementary school punishment – “I will not…” x100 – It really does work!).
  • Write the passage on 3×5 note cards and place them next to your computer, on the dashboard of your car, and anywhere else you will see it often throughout your day.

Get creative with your memorization! Not only will this help you commit scripture to memory, it will be so incredibly rewarding when you can recite that scripture at the absolute perfect moment to encourage not only your own heart but bless your friends as well!

If you create something fun to help with this week’s memory verse challenge, be sure to post it and tag #SheBelieves so we can all see and be encouraged!

P.s. If this scripture encourages you, be sure to pass the encouragement along and share it with a friend!
