UNSTOPPABLE GOSPEL: Allowing The Inexorable Truth Set You Free!
READ: ACTS 13:13-52
It can sometimes feel really hard to shake the opposition we face for our faith. In the difficult times, we can rub up against false doctrine or tempted to believe what the world has to offer instead of taking comfort in God’s truth.
As Paul and Barnabas were faced with opposition, Paul takes us down memory lane to remind us all God had done for His people. Pointing out the goodness of God through times of trial and in the heat of opposition. Sharing how God raised his people up in the land of Egypt, sustained them through forty years in the wilderness, to then destroy seven nations in the land of Canaan — all so that they might receive their promised inheritance.
In the easy times and the hard, let’s get really good at taking a minute to step back and look at the whole picture, remembering all the good God has done in our lives. This small shift can help tremendously in giving us a more accurate perspective for our current situations. It fills our hearts with the victory, power, and strength of the Lord as well as reminds us of His sovereignty and goodness to always take care of us.
Looking back and remembering God’s goodness does something even more magnificent in our hearts!
The more we delight in the truth and encouragement of the Lord the more we are faced with the power of godliness in our lives. And the more godliness abounds the fuller our hearts will be to withstand opposition well.
Opposition will happen in our life but it doesn’t have to be something that knocks us down or takes us out of the game for a moment. It can be a powerful intersection for God to reveal himself more. I’m reading a book written by a friend of mine called ” 5 Habits Of A Woman Who Doesn’t Quit.” and she says “Opposition is always an opportunity for God to reveal himself.” Let’s press into the revelations of God all the more in each our our circumstances and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal and strengthen our stance.
I pray that as we press into the Lord our hearts will be plumped-up all the more with the joy and the goodness of God and with his glorious Holy Spirit so that when we are faced with times of trial and opposition we will be well prepared to shake it off!
